The prestigious and widely read monthly magazine Bio Magazine sent an editor to Casalvento to ask us a few questions.

The article, titled “Lavender tells the stories and organic poetry of our land…“, simply and carefully outlines the evolution of a production project begun in Casalvento in 1962

We immediately understand that journalist Rosa Polito has researched us. She asks targeted questions, inquires about cultivars and stills, knows the differences between the various types of lavender, uses natural cosmetics, and experiences firsthand how a green production system is essential to the sustainability of a business like Casalvento’s. Energy recovery, water conservation, efficient distillation processes, and knowledge of balsamic times are the company’s competitive factors. A whole body of knowledge that begins with founder Giovanni Domini and then, passing through Lorenzo, arrives at Alessandro Domini. Rosa understands that the future always relies on the past; even in our case.

When asked to spare a thought for young people entering professions related to greenery and nature, Lorenzo responded:

I hope they understand this: once upon a time, everything was “organic,” then imperceptibly, but inexorably, something changed. The first pesticides appeared, with scant labels that barely described the product’s contents. Over time, they became more descriptive, but remained hermetic. All this seems disturbing to me. It’s legitimate to wonder if it’s possible to do without pesticides. We don’t use them. My father-in-law knew when to till or sow, when and how to fertilize, and which weeds would compete with each other to the point of benefiting the crop. I learned a lot from him simply by watching and listening. I advise young people to learn from older people… it’s the most natural thing there is

We thank the editorial staff of Bio Magazine for their spontaneous and generous attention to our story.
